Job Vacancy - PT. LOUIS DREYFUS

Louis Dreyfus Commodities is one of the world's largest traders and
processors of agricultural commodities. Founded in 1851 the Louis
Dreyfus group is represented in over 50 countries, with major Asian
offices in Singapore, Beijing, New Delhi, Jakarta and Vietnam.
Within the Asian region, we are active in the physical and futures
markets for vegetable oils, oilseeds, grains, cotton, metals, sugar,
rice and coffee.

"AGRONOMIST"

Requirements of candidate:
1)Specialization in Agronomy/Soil or allied Agriculture fields.
2)Experience in crop surveys through previous employment experience
is an advantage but not necessarily.
3)Fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia
4)Preference will be given to candidates with oil palm, coffee and
rubber cultivation background.
5)Willingness to travel to all oil palm, coffee and rubber areas in
Indonesia with our overseas agronomists.
6)Good analytical skills and computer applications.
7)If necessary, able to relocate to our overseas offices for initial
1 - 3 months for training.

Reporting Structure
a.Agronomist will be based at PT Louis Dreyfus Indonesia in
Jakarta/West of Kalimantan and Lampung.
b.He/she will report to our Research team in Bangalore, India on
technical issues and to LD Singapore for administrative issues.

Job Profile
The Agronomist will have two functions –
i.accompany our overseas agronomists to the oil palm areas in
Indonesia, and
ii.do research from our Jakarta office.

Whilst travelling, he/she will do the following:
a) visit a significant number oil palm, coffee and rubber areas,
includes large, medium and small plantations, both state owned and
private plantations. The number of plantations and areas will be
decided (but enough to give a representative sample)
b) talk to the plantations and farmers about areas, inputs,
irrigation, yields, replanting etc
c) visit local Government offices and ports to get all necessary data
d) establish contact and relationship with managers of plantations,
exporters, government officials to source the data.

In the office:
a)source as many statistics as possible, particularly rainfall data
and forecasts from palm oil, coffee and rubber companies,
websites/government contacts and local exporters.
b)conduct phone surveys with plantations, farmers local
researchers/agronomists with regard to crop development and current
scenario.
